Description: The Carlay Rice Mill was erected in a 200 sqm lot of Medina Carlay located at 88 J.M Catolos Street, Barangay Katipunan Bayani, Tanay, Rizal being an extension of the familys residential facilities. The rice mill was established on February 6, 1958, by Patricio Carlay as a temporary warehouse/ depository of palay from the harvest of the farmers in Tanay. Originally, the rice mill used a fuel-operated milling machine, but it is now replaced by a power-operated machine. The Carlay Rice Mill was a one-story building with no paint color on the facade. The wall was made of concrete hollow blocks and a galvanized iron with metal and wood as long as the roof. The floor was made of stone and cement. There are some plants on the facade of the building.

History Structure: The Carlay Rice Mill was established on February 6, 1958, by Patricio Carlay as a temporary warehouse/ depository of palay from the harvest of the farmers in Tanay. The facility used to be run by a fuel-operated milling machine, but it is now replaced by a power-operated machine. This serves the milling services requirement/ temporary warehouse of the local farmers and palay dealers. As temporary storage of harvest, the farmers have the opportunity to trade their harvest for a better price after the peak of the harvest season and generate a fair return on their investment.

Stories: This rice mill has become a haven for many farmers, particularly the people from Ilaya. They can borrow from fellow farmers when their income is not enough for their familys needs. This Rice Mill was known up to this time not only in the town of Tanay but also in the neighboring towns. The Carlay Rice Mill served as a warehouse and a rice barn by the Tanayan farmers over the years. The farmers gathered inside the rice mill every harvest season and they have a short meeting on how they will trade their harvest for a better price to generate a fair return on their investment.
