Description: The Tanay Rural Bank was located at Ding Tanjuatco Street (former P. Burgos St.) in Tanay, Rizal. It is found near the town’s Plaza at the back of the 7/11-Convenience Store. The Tanay Rural Bank is a 2-story building that was made up of stone and cement with hollow blocks. The wall was repainted two (2) years ago with white and green. It has a total land area of 83.79 sqm that was allotted for the building. There is no parking lot within the premises for it was erected along the way. In addition to stationing security guards in lobbies and out front, banks have put this security measure in place to keep employees safe. The bank front door was equipped with a door access control system, so only authorized bank personnel could enter the premises. The bank can effectively keep the building safe and secure by controlling the movement of the people in and out of the building. The floor was new as well as the ceilings. Even the computers, tables, and chairs are new. One thing remains old inside the bank and that is the human size money vault at the center. It looks like a little room. The vaults now become the storage of papers and documents of the bank’s transaction. Even the second floor of the building is now a storage room. Currently, Tanay Rural Bank has their new building along F.T. Catapusan Street is the reason why they decided to make the old building a storage room or backup room.

History Structure: The Tanay Rural Bank Inc. was organized in 1956 under SEC Registration Number 10883 on February 28, 1956, and was given the authority to operate on March 24, 1956. It was the first banking institution to open in Tanay and the first Rural Bank that was established in Region IV-A. Since its establishment, the organizers were confident that they have at least answered a long-felt need for a source of financing their townmates especially the numerous farmers and small entrepreneurs in the area who has been the pride of its dedicated owners. It was composed of fifteen (15) original incorporators. The founding father and the first President was the late Atty. Protacio Amonoy Sr., aside from being an active lawyer finds time to head the active management of the bank. He knows that public confidence and integrity of the institution and the people behind it is an essential ingredient for a successful operation. The bank was managed then by his son, Protasio P. Amonoy Jr., who devotes full time to the Rural Bank and was able to manage up to 1975.

Stories: Since its establishment in 1956, Tanay Rural Bank has devoted a greater part of its resources to the development of agricultural farmlands. Farmers from the town and the neighboring towns ran to it for the bank’s credit services as it was the only bank in Tanay at that time. They were able to take out loans which had been advantageous later on as the growth of not only a few farmers and fishing barrios, but also large-scale projects and business ventures had been evidently successful.
