Stabat Mater

Stabat Mater

Address: Tanay, Rizal

Sub-Category: Song

Stories: According to the choir while they were singing the stabat mater they can feel goosebumps all over their body, especially if they are singing it with all their hearts. They feel like they were actually present in the real scenario of Jesus interment. It feels surreal as they feel Marys love for her son through the song. They say that they could feel the real meaning of the celebration of Good Friday.

Description: The Stabat Mater is sung every Good Friday of Holy Week during and after the procession, it is a song to the Blessed Virgin who mourns the death of her child, the one called Mater Dolorosa. This is a tradition of the people of Tanay. There are many versions of it in different tones. Three places in our country have this Stabat Mater but they have violin, guitar and trombone. Here in Tanay the Band of San Ildefonso de Toledo Parish plays the hymn during the procession.
